Info
In the mid 1980s Carl Plansky began making paint for himself and his friends in the Williamsburg neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York. Williamsburg's oil paints accumulated a following and international presence while preserving the handmade integrity of the paint.
Getting the proper pigment is just the beginning. So much of the quality of oil paint is in the grinding. Each color is ground to enhance the beauty and luminosity specific to that particular pigment. Some colors will feel slightly gritty; others extremely smooth. The Cerulean Blue has a beautiful velvet, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong covering power; the Siennas will often be chunky or gritty to allow light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertones instead of just heavy, dull browns.
Pigments are ground in pure, premium, alkali-refined and PH- balanced linseed oil and made in batches no larger than five gallons at a time. This gives total control over the product, much like the late nineteenth-century French color makers. All the materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinised. The paint is packed in 37 ml and 150 ml non-reactive aluminium tubes.

Very unusual paint. It's great you can get it from Jacksons.

Amazing intensity of colour, loads of pigment. A little goes a long way
Review
I like Williamsburg paints but have not used this one yet
Review
This paint is full bodied and very easy to work with
Review
Ah, I have tried this one before and love the color
Review
For me, an irreplaceable color, especially for work on portrait painting

When I’m using only one black paint, this is the one I choose. It’s a true black, yet it isn’t cold. It’s fully opaque and the surface texture is, in my view, excellent. It also dries very quickly for an oil paint.

Beautiful! As with all Williamsburg paints, such high quality. Switching to Williamsburg has really transformed my work. The Dutch Brown is so warm, will become a permanent addition to my palette.

The best black I have found, packed with pigment, would recommend.

No comment. Incredible.
Review
a beautiful colour, lovely on the brush and an the canvas
Review
Nice consistency, has a proper graphite sheen to it. Not tried it straight from the tube, so don't know if it dries with the sheen.

Always the highest quality paint - well packaged by Jacksons so not mangled by carrier
Review
A very fine high quality oil paint .

Possibly one of my favourite colours - I have every available shade in pastels (Schminke) but this is the first time I have seen it as an oil paint. It is a rich colour and reminds me very much of the range of colours that Modigliani uses in his flesh tones.
Review
This is a good, dense, matt, brown/black colour but it is very, very stiff and difficult to squeeze out of the tube. However, a little goes a long way.
Review
A FABULOUS colour. I was overjoyed to find this as an oil paint as I have it in acrylic and have had difficulty tracking it down in an oil.
Review
Gorgeous colour, excellent quality
Review
This comment applies to all of the Williamsburg oil colours purchased ... These are quality paints, not cheap but worth it for particular pigments. Introductory free 10ml tubes a good way to get acquainted with unusual colours(eg Moserrat Orange) and to experience the quality.

The paint was very difficult to squeeze out of the tube. It came out eventually. I thought if I squeeze any harder I'll burst the tube. Okay after that. I wondered if the paint had been left in storage for a long time. I understand that handmade paints have a shorter shelf life than more production paints.

Pricey but they stock must have colours and are quality oils.

I use this colour a lot and have several brands but Williamsburg is my favourite. It is rich and blends well.

Williamsburg is my top favourite brand. Their pigments are good and the paints are lovely and creamy. Fabulous range of colours. This colour is simply gorgeous.

Again, Williamsburg has produced a wonderful and versatile colour.

Lovely colour that can be used for floral still life or as a flesh tone. Love it. Williamsburg just has the edge as far as colour range is concerned.

Great paints, particularly their earth colours which are really rich and lush.

Great quality and some unique characteristics
