Schmincke : Horadam Watercolor Paint

Lovely deep velvet colour on its own but makes s deep rich black when mixed with perylene green

This is the first time I have tried Horadam watercolours, having always used Winsor and Newton previously. I have found Horadam give excellent translucency, easy to lift, not too staining, with lovely granulation on my chosen colours.

You have a wrong index in the description. I ordered this paint and it’s pb15:3, it’s a good paint though but I didn’t need this

I love this beautiful salmon colour paint! I find it does not re-wet easy enough and is very fine pigment, bright and luminous, quite intense but not dark.

My all time favorite watercolors, such a nice range of artist quality lightfast colors that are easily re-wetted when dried into pans due to the formula. Colors are super nice and vibrant and not chalky at all.

I adore this shade of blue, and it's now a must-have in my palette.

Not a fan of this as a standalone colour and it's hard to get strong values from it (esp compared to something like Perylene Green) but it's excellent for adding granulation and darkness to other colours.

Scmincke Horadam watercolours are excellent, I would thoroughly recommend them. If the tube colours do dry out after use they disperse very easily when water is added. Burnt Sienna is an excellent colour for landscapes.

Sap Green is a natural green, but when mixed with Translucent Orange produces olive greens and when mixed with Pthalo Blue produces deep bluish greens.

As the paints were poorly packed, this tube was all crushed up, but just about usable and I needed to use it, so felt unable to return it as it would take too long to replace.

Less of an Olive Green, it's a harder dark blue/green

I'm so glad ultramarine exists, it's so versatile.

I just had to buy this colour for a friend who uses very bright colours in his paintings and he loves it. I think I prefer to mix my own greens and this bright spring green can be mixed easily from a green and yellow.

This colour isn't as useful as some other colours I purchased but it is beautiful. I have to experiment with it more.

Horadam is one of the best in watercolor! I love to work with them!

The hue is close to Holbein Ultramarine Deep but only much much more beautiful to my eyes especially in the thin wash. Very satisfied.

It highlight even another colors while mixing. It forms rich watermarks with salt and water. When I want brightness, when it is too cold outside or on painting I use it! Just trying out this brand as I usually go for Windsor and Newton. I haven't had the chance to play with it fully but the paint is high quality I like it.

I have no idea why Schmincke have given this paint 3 out of 5 stars for lightfastness, I have had a purple magenta square taped onto a sunny window for almost a year now and nothing has happened to it, all the paintings done using it are also in great shape. Great bright magenta, the same pigment from other manufacturers is often more brownish.

Quality paint - lovely soft colour

This paint is a lovely colour and I used it to paint poppies you don't need to use much so should last a long time. Would buy it again.

On it's own merits it's a very pleasant and well behaved paint but it was not quite what I was expecting having got used to Winsor and Maimeriblu versions which are themselves very similar. This is so different ( less saturated and significantly more yellow) that I wondered if it had been mislabelled as it more closely resembles Hookers Green.

Very strong color, need to mix in with a lot of water for it not to overpower the drawing. Very neatly filled pan, the top was perfectly flat.

I always used to believe the old prejudice that orange was 'just a secondary colour' that could be easily mixed. Well you'd be hard pressed to mix an orange this bright. Great for mixing umbers (with Ultramarine) and browns, Indian Yellows and Gamboges and Scarlets. And also let's not forget, things that really are bright orange - like an Orange!

Horadam Ultramarine Finest, in my opinion, is the best of the best. The usual granulation effect associated with ultramarine, as the name suggests, is much finer than its competitors. This can be really crucial when used to represent a clear blue sky, where grain must be kept to a minimum and only the finest ultramarine colour will do.
