Gamvar saturates and gives greater depth to the colors in your painting and gives your work a unified and protective semi-gloss surface. Developed in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, Gamvar goes on water-clear, stays water-clear and can be easily and safely removed with Gamsol. Gamvar is virtually odourless and ready to apply.
Gamvar can be applied when the thickest areas of your painting are thoroughly dry and firm to the touch. Brush apply: do not spray.

Gamvar varnish was easy to apply on an oil painting, the painting had two coats and the finish has just the right amount of gloss to it. I had no issues with the varnish “beading” up, this had been mentioned as a possibility by reviewers on art forums.

Very very good varnish you can use as soon as the paint is dry. Imparts an even, high quality gloss which isn't too shiny. Dries fast. Very liquid. Compared to Winsor Newton Artists' Gloss varnish it dries much more evenly. Gamvar doesn't have any odor, but I think it contains odourless mineral spirits which affect my skin severely so I use it outside on a breezy day.

splendid thin coat application....yes it dries in 24 hours for a second coat...brushes clean easily with orderless mineral spirits...the studio remains order free during the process
