Info
Every painting has a story. Daniel Smith's goal is to make the painting process as memorable as your finished masterpiece. Daniel Smith have spent eighteen years developing the finest and most complete line of watercolor paint so you can create your own unique vision.
When you choose Daniel Smith Extra Fine' Watercolors, your work will benefit from the extensive research put into all of their materials. Their passion for color is only the beginning; the rest of the story is yours to tell.
Building a Watercolor Palette
Since Daniel Smith started making their Extra Fine Watercolors in 1993, customers have responded by telling us about their favourite colors and combinations. Although each artist's method of color selection is unique, most agree to start with basics, add strong secondary tones, and mix in unique and interesting favourites.
Bold Basics Set the Stage for Brilliant Results
The key to a successful palette starts with high-quality paint in primary tones. Beginners to the most advanced painters benefit from a selection of warm and cool primaries for color mixing.
To make a fiery orange, try mixing New Gamboge (a warm yellow) with Pyrrol Scarlet (a warm red). Cool yellows (like Lemon Yellow) are slightly green and are useful for creating vibrant green shades.
These primary colors and their clean mixtures can be neutralized or brightened to suit your subject. Remember to add earthtones to complete your basic palette.
Secondary Colors Add Balance & Harmony to Your Work
Expand your palette with violets, greens and oranges to take your painting to the next level. These colors, situated between the primaries on your palette allow for complex and harmonious color relationships.
Some secondary colors are pre-mixed watercolors that are best bought by the tube because they are used so frequently (Sap Green is an example of a popular pre-mixed shade). Others are single pigment paints, like Quinacridone Burnt Orange, that add a serious pop to your palette but cannot be mixed using primary colors.
Create Drama with a Stunning Cast of Characters
Certain colors just have that "wow" factor. We've talked to many artists who find inspiration in the bold, unique and unusual pigments we offer.
Add dramatic effects with an authentic mineral pigment from our PrimaTek® line or create a jewel-like shimmer with a Luminescent watercolor. Customer favourites like Quinacridone Gold or Rhodonite are sure to add excitement to your process.

Lovely texture, fantastic depth of colour, great to work with.

Gorgeous! Quite a chalky feel to the pigment but divine colour
Review

Superb as always! Thank you!

Review
Totally love this color. It has a special place in my travel palette.
Review
I've bought their watercolours and sundries.
Review
Lovely colours. The more costly colours are worth the money.
Review
It's good.
Review
Excellent service and value for money
Review
Amazing range of paint!!!
Review
This is a beautiful watercolour. It's particularly useful as a red that is warm but without straying into orange. It handles well and is a joy to use.
Review

Review
Professional quality paints. But I use other artists quality watercolours as well.
Review
Great quality, interesting colour.
Review
Great, exactly what I`ve been looking for!
Review
Beware! I bought a 15ml tube of this colour because I had been using it from a 5ml tube, bought three months earlier. The new 15ml tube (in a new pack), although its description remains the same, is a totally different colour - much darker and dirtier. It's a total waste of £12.80 - not suitable for my purpose at all.
Review
Strange consistency. Colour split and seems oily
Review
Wonderful green so varied in use.
Review
Excellent service, reasonably priced product
Review
Brilliant colours better than other brands
Review
Beautiful colour and consistency
Review
Good colour for sand and light stone. Mixes well, but I prefer the usual earth tones of raw sienna which is a bit darker.
Review
Great colour, really enjoyed testing it out.
Review
interesting colour and effects
Review
One of my 'must have' colors. Its vibrancy and brightness is unmatched.
Review
excellent, and very grainy, and being in a tube, goes a long way
Review
A stunning pink. Better than I expected.
Review
Stunning colour. Really high quality watercolour paint.
Review
Verona Gold Ochre (PY43) is a beautiful golden yellow watercolour. It works particularly well with Daniel Smith’s transparent PrimaTek paints.

Review
As a previous reviewer has said, this is a beautiful watercolour. The wash and masstone colours look significantly different but both are lovely.
Review
Exactly what I wanted. A beautiful colour and experience.

Lovely paint excellent quality and value
Review
Excellent paint well packaged and well worth the money
Review
My favourite! Excellent store and excellent product
Review
Gorgeous paint good value
Review
see remarks for Burnt Sienna.
Review
Great colours, but some tubes were overfilled so all paint squirted out - not great especially as these are not cheap. And then having to clean tops of tubes to try and prevent tubes sticking solid was a bit of a bore.
Review
Lovely soft pinky red, useful colour, quncs are great colours.
Review
same remarks as for Burnt Sienna
Review
I bought this originally for the dark centres of sunflowers, where it worked beautifully with the yellows. Lovely, rich vibrant colour. Have tried dropping this into Daniel Smith's granulating colours for some interesting effects.
Review
I was a little disappointed with this, not with the quality, which is excellent as always with Daniel Smith, but it was not so vibrant as I had hoped. So far, I prefer it as a thin wash or glaze, but it does have a nice lustre in the more full-bodied application.
Review
mine looks nothing like the one on the photo. it's shimmering cool grey with just a dab of blue
Review
This paint is fine and well known to me
Review
I'm a big fan of the Daniel Smith Primateks range. This has a soft black mass tone with underlying shades of deep maroon. Granulates gently - and has a lot of personality on the page.
Review
Good quality watercolour paint
Review
I was so excited to buy what is my first purchase of DS paints! I tried them out the minute I received them. In fact, that very same week, I used them in a painting. But, while the colours were fine and so were the paints, they really werent as amazing as I'd expected, considering how other artists rave about them. They werent any better than cheaper paints I've used, and I really dont understand why they cost the earth.
Review
Great colour, great pigment quality
Review
wonderful colour, mesmerising the way it splits into greens and blues on the page. Would be great for ocean inspired work.
Review
Good quality watercolour paint
Review
I know the paint well and it's fine
Review
This and the Lunar Blue is my first DS experience. I like the granulation properties of this colour, but its not as beautiful as I'd imagined, having heard several famous artists rave about them. So far I'm not unduly impressed by DS, especially since they cost so much more than other brands, but dont seem to stand out enough to justify the cost.
Review
lovely colour, like sepia but with granulation
Review
Beautiful paint. Alvaro castagnet uses this stuff, good enough for me.
Review
Daniel Smith are all excellent
Review
Excellent product with amazing results
Review
A fabulous pigment paint colour.
Review
Great colour, good quality paint.
Review
Great colour, great quality paint.
Review
Beautiful colour. Great quality paint.
Review
Gorgeous colour, great quality paint.
Review
Such a beautiful colour, has a slight shimmer that makes it even better.
Review
The granulation is spectacular
Review
Well packaged, contents intact.
Review
Great paint and great price
Review
A good new addition liked the depth of colour whilst being transparent
Review
Uh yes I have never bought a grey before but this is something else. used it in my painting which is now sold.
Review
Use these paints all the time, good value for money
Review
Love this brand and the colour
Review
The Lapis Lazuli Genuine lacks the coveted bright blue color. With Daniel Smith, this precious and coveted pigment turns into a meaningless non-luminous grayish blue. Too bad.
Review
Good colour and consistency, comparable to Winsor & Newton.
Review
Beautiful colours choice is difficult because I want them all.
Review
This is fantastic, I love the way the colour splits and granulates, you have subtle changes in the colour as it dries with strong violets and nice deep grey, with hints of blue separating. Highly recommend this colour.
Review
This is one of my favourite colours, rich and warm.
Review
I love Daniel Smith watercolours, they go a long way and the colours are deep and rich. The burnt umber has a lovely warmth.
Review
Fantastic colour with excellent granulation.
Review
Daniel Smith gold watercolour paint is absolutely stunning - you could be mistaken it's gold leaf.
Review
It is the most amazing watercolour paint I have ever tried! Like a magical box which opens up in front of your eyes, changing colours and opening up hidden gems of viridian, pinks and magical deep purples. It is a pure magic, I can't believe my eyes everytime I paint with it. The granulation is above compliments, bravo, Daniel Smith! You make me want to paint more in more with this! Can't recommend it highly enough!
Review
The usual light blue, there is no granulation at all. This is the third color of the five that I ordered, which does not match the manufacturer's description.
Review
Color is really beautiful, but the granulation is not as strong as in the picture of the producer.
Review
Lie again. It's not granulating.
Review
Beautiful deep cold gray color with granulation.
Review
This color is my disappointment of the year. Boring gray-green without any granulation. This color is completely different from the manufacturer's photo. Maybe I got a tube from a defective lot, but such cases fundamentally undermine the trust in the brand.
Review
This colour makes you reminisce the now dead PO49. This is really a colour to talk about. How could you paint sunsets without it?
Review
High pigment , so you use less paint
Review
Top of the range, High pigment content
Review
Excellent watercolour paints, rich pigments great colours
Review
Daniel Smith watercolours - quality excellent, as expected.
Review
A really interesting off beat colour I wouldn't be without.
Review
This is one of the best watercolour colours. Moody and deep , it breaks up into an indigo and purple with water.
Review
Would recommend this product.
Review
AS above I need to use the product more before I can really say if it is good value and has the qualities I look for in watercolour paint.
Review
Unique color!
Review
very good quality paint and exactly the colour I wanted.
Review
Very beautifull granulating colour
Review
It is one of the best green colour in the wotercolour in the world.
Review
Yet to use, but appears more yellow than I might have imagined, but will get use in one of my 'primaries only' pieces.
Review
Yet to use, but appears more yellow than I might have imagined, but will get use in one of my 'primaries only' pieces.
Review
Makes a lovely dark when paired with Prussian Blue
Review
This is a lovely paint and I love the colour and clarity you get with Daniel Smith paint.
Review
Lovely paint but I have only given 3 stars because the colour in the tube I have bought is very different from the sample on the DS dots sample card. The sample was a definite, inky blue but the colour in the tube I've received can really only be described as a cool black. Not much point in having a sample card if they don't match up with what you buy. I would be interested to know if the Primatek colours have an inherent variation due to coming from natural mineral deposits. The good points though are that the granulation is amazing and mixing with other colours produces an interesting black, gritty overlay.
Review
Beautiful colour. Bought because of recent change in pigment content.
Review
Super colour, very bright. Great for flowerrs.
Review
Love the colour, great for painting Shetland seas and skies.
Review
Very good quality. Love the colours.
Review
I decant this colour into half pans for students who wouldn't need the size of tube available. A colour not to be found in other ranges. Very useful for Botanical work ie twigs, dry grass, poppy heads etc
Review
Granulates beautifully but is more toward brown than deep red.
Review
excellent colour
Review
not as strong lapis colour as expected.
Review
Gorgeous, sensual colour.
Review
Took a while to find the perfect pigment for poppies, this Transparent Pyrrol Orange is so just right it is yummy! Dries beautifully evenly in glowing washes.
Review
I have only had time to experiment a little with this colour but I am pleasantly surprised at the granulation.
Review
This is an exciting colour and I look forward to using it very much.
Review
Good for creams
Review
Lovely colour
Review
I just love Daniels Smith paints the colours are just fantastic and lovely to work with I dont think I will ever use another brand again,,, I just keep going back to these
Review
The watercolour products I buy from Jackson's are top quality and I find it hard to get what I need anywhere else and their prices are excellent as are the delivery times,,, the products have made a big difference to me and my work so thank you
Review
I just love Daniels Smith paints the colours are just fantastic and lovely to work with I dont think I will ever use another brand again,,, I just keep going back to these
Review
One of the best colours I have. Really brightens up a picture. Only tried it with foliage so far.
Review
Not tried so far.
Review
Thin application creates delicate greens and on its own bright landscape effects.
Review
Primary colour.
Review
Good mixer for greens.
Review
I love Daniel Smith's watercolour range, the best on the market
Review
Series 1 transparent yellow from DS, very pleasing results.
Review
A great colour! So glad I bought this, it is becoming one of my regulars.
Review
Really bright and vibrant. Totally different to other makes which are mixed and are muddy in comparison.
Review
Lovely rich colour
Review
Colour different to what I expected,a very much deeper tone, more plum than soft pink, must say I am disappointed with this one.
Review
A nice color, creates wonderful darks with ultramarine blue.
Review
I'd say it's a bit weaker than other ochre paints from various brands I've tried so far. Definitely more difficult to rewet than other DS paints on the pallette.
Review
A nice reddish and deeper alternative to quinacridone gold, I like as an alternative to burnt sienna.
Review
Haven't tried this colour yet, looking forward to it!
Review
I started off with this colour after seeing someone else using it. What a great effect it has.
Review
Just wonderful.
Review
The colour is amazing. Daniels Smith is the best watercolour made.
Review
Fantastic.
Review
Beautiful clean colour .......... can't quite get there by mixing other colours. Almost a shame to alter it by mixing other colours into it. Great for moody skies of used "dry brush" on reflective water.
Review
Love the consistency of Daniel Smith watercolour and the colour is fab
Review
Lovely colour separated well.
Review
glorious colour and texture
Review
I have found this to be a beautiful transparent yellow
Review
Vibrant, moderately sedimentary ultramarine, handles well as a wash or less dilute
Review
Lovely creamy paint
Review
Lovely, very finely milled so not as gritty as some brands of this pigment.
Review
Delighted with it, it mixes great with a quinacridone pink to get a less granular equivalent to cobalt violet. Well almost, a little duller but the best I've ever done for an intense transparent red-violet. Makes lovely greys too.
Review
I was very pleased to order this colour as it is often difficult to find.
Review
I don't know what the fuss is about I found then to be no better that WN which are week in colour, and not as intense as they make out!-Some colours, remain softer then others in dry form. Expensive and full of American hype
Review
A superb colour, and I will be buying more from the Daniel Smith range of watercolours.
Review
I love this colour ! Usefull in many cases...
Review
Had thought it was a cooler colour, Had read somewhere that DS was cooler than WN. Not so I think. Never mind, not the end of the world!
Review
Lovely colour and texture to this paint.
Review
Bought for a relative
Review
Many Thanks!!!!
Review
Perfect!
Review
excellent watercolour
Review
excellent quality
Review
Great colour and staying power.
Review
You cannot fault these colours.
Review
This colour is intriguing to say the least.
Review
the DVD is very good to understand
Review
Beautiful paint
Review
Excellent brown/greys mixed with Ultramarine - creating just the effects that I wanted
Review
I love this paint so much I keep trying to incorporate it in all of my paintings! The granulation creates wonderful pinks and purples - just right for heather clad hillsides which feature in many of my landscapes as I live in Scotland!
Review
A lovely colour
Review
It was very good, but not the vibrant orange I expected - more of a light cadmium red
Review
Very exciting granulation & sedimentary effects, very different and am still exploring its possibilities. Had a large air bubble in new tube--partial fill.
Review
I have actually already left feedback for this on Jacksons website-- Have been getting air bubbles with partial fills with Daniel Smith
Review
This is a wonderful alizarin. Great for colour mixing.
Review
This is an amazing pigment, really good for colour mixing. Like the results much better than with cerulean. A lot less chalky. Very vibrant and transparent.
Review
Superb pigment
Review
I think Daniel Smith w..colours are the best you can find on the market. That is the reson I order them from UK.
Review
great bright colour
Review
I've used Winsor & Newton, Schmincke Horadam and Daler Rowney watercolours for years, but this is my first taste of Daniel Smith. There's no doubt they are much more expensive, but frankly in a different league of quality. Finely ground, the colour explodes on the paper and there's a wealth of much more interesting colours to choose from. Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet is italian tiles, rusting iron farm buildings, dying bracken - you get the idea !
Review
Love the Daniel Smith colours but they react rather differently to other watercolours so need a bit of practice.
Review
Really nice, deep colour -compared to the regular quin gold, which although is also a lovely colour, does not give the warmth and depth that this "deep version" does.
Review
Slightly greyer than W&N. Very useful
Review
Gorgeous colour up to usual Daniel Smith standard.
Review
good quality and very good value for money
Review
I can't fault products or service, stopped using other suppliers because of the fast delivery and great customer service.
Review
Having tried the try it dot colour card I expected it to be a brighter stronger colour. But it's just like W&N Burnt Siena.
Review
Interesting colour.
Review
Never use black in watercolour they say! BUT if you like texture in your rocks, foreground etc, a la John Piper, John Blockley, Michael Morgan etc, this is the colour to use. Magnificent and unpredictable granulation effects.
Review
Great for reddish colour in rocks etc. Magnificent and unpredictable granulation effects.
Review
Not quite as dramatic granulation as the DS blurb claims on its own, but granulation increases when mixed with W & N French Ultramarine.
Review
I love those wc paints
Review
Just a bit too runny when it comes out of the tube for me. I have grown up with W & N materials
Review
Very nice colour and texture for landscapes especially autumn tones.. Used it straight away. Thankyou.
Review
Wonderful colour gives flowers a great look.
Review
Beautiful colour but does ooze quickly out of tube
Review
Also excellent quality with lovely deep rich colour
Review
Outstanding colour for dark backgrounds and shadows.
Review
Lovely deep colour
Review
Also lovely deep colour
Review
All beautiful intense colours.
Review
fantastic transparent colour with antwerp blue it makes a magnificent green excellent in wet into wet paintings and gives a rich warm yellow gold in backgrounds.
Review
this is super and an excellent transparent replacement for burnt sienna. It makes a warm black with antwerp and a really dark black when mixed with ultramarine blue.
Review
I think it's excellent - but I'd have to say I am not an experienced artist.
Review
BRILLIANT paint, took to my art class and everyone wants a tube, quality is second to none will order more shades as very impressed
Review
Not sure use reflects illustration. Perhaps w and n cd try producing an addl range! Also tubes soft and cause ooze of paint when opening!
Review
Still trying to compare to w and n!!! Not always convinced price difference warranted!!!
Review
Colour not so sophisticated in use/test as illustrated - disappointed
Review
As b4: tube too soft, price versus w and n hard to justify if not v special in use, not yet succeeded in getting effect illustrated - perhaps W and N could produce a small special range of gran, separating u usual colours
Review
Colour darker than expected but does water down to a paler shade.
Review
A nice burnt umber perfect for mixing with ultramarine for darker shadows.
Review
Beautiful
Review
Lovely bright, strong colour which doesn't dry on the palette for much longer than cheaper watercolours.
Review
Paint does not dry out on the palette as quickly as cheaper watercolours so much easier to use over a few hours painting. Lovely strong colour so you don't need a lot.
Review
Useful strong colour which doesn't dry on the palette for a long time compared to cheaper watercolours.
Review
this and W&N lemon are my only yellows, and cover the field!!
Review
rich bright blue, fine granulation
Review
Good quality pigment
Review
Interesting shade.
Review
fantastic bright colour lasts well, mixes well to make lovely greens
Review
Love this colour and have used it for painting my flowers - very rich
Review
Perfect for what I wanted it for.
Review
Just gave me what I was looking for. Very pleased with the results. I will be back ordering soon.
Review
Expensive but excellent quality.
Review
Expensive but excellent quality.
Review
My favourite cour in the Daniel Smaithrange. I love the way the paint granulates.
Review
pigment very weak, nowhere near as good as Old Holland
Review
It has a bit of a gooey texture but nice when mixed with cobalt blue and/or raw sienna. Those 3 also make a nice grey.
Review
Not as bright a colour as an acrylic version but still useful.
Review
This is an excellent colour with a variety of uses.
Review
As a fantasy artist I wanted a colour for use in undersea scenes but I have found this colour extremely useful for my paintings of dragon flesh, fantasy woodlands and Elves of shadows. and also leaves and foliage of wildflowers and garden plants. It will stay as a permanent member of my palette collection.
Review
Deeper colour than I expected
Review
I am a fantasy artist painting my book illustrations and images for other products. At first I was disappointed in the colour not reflecting that shown online, but the more I use it, the more I realise how fascinating this colour is and how versatile its uses. I now intend to try more colours.
Review
Really vibrant colour
Review
Always beautiful colours good consistency
Review
Perfect for granular washes on rocks, scrub etc.
Review
As the 'Info' says this is a lovely clear strong orange, but much more useful than the heavy opaque Cadmium Orange. A great landscape colour for sunsets as it's transparent. It mixes well to produce interesting greens and browns.
Review
Don't be misled by the colour which appears on the screen or on the Jackson's colour chart (quite a few of the DS colours are not accurately shown !). This is not the red/brown shade you see, but a lovely golden raw sienna colour. Like all DS colours it rewets very well (much better than W&N Raw Sienna or W&N Yellow Ochre) and is semi-transparent, giving a glowing colour on the paper but also having enough 'presence' to achieve interesting effects.
Review
I'm addicted to this lovely shadow colour, since a fiend introduced me to it. I've met other addicts since. Just wished the Daniel smith paints were a bit cheaper, but they are imported. It's a lovely original range
Review
Still a lovely paint (Daniel Smith never disappoints) however the tube I got wasn't single pigment PR88 as advertised but instead a mix of PR202 and PB29. Kinda disappointing when you buy this especially because it's PR88.
Review
The actual purchase was good as was delivery
Review
10 colours in one! A cascade of colour in a tube
Review
Used it for red cat furs. Extremely watercolors effect and bright color. You never forgot this lovely feeling using this tube! My lovely cover for my watercolor painting course \"Creating WOW Effects In Watercolor\" with a Quinacridone Deep Gold kitten is so attractive - http://lazywonderbrush.blogspot.ca/2015/12/announcing-new-course-creating-wow.html
Review
This is pure fresh in a tube. My hand take it each time I want to paint a sky but not to go away viewers attention from main subject. My spring daffodils are so soft and fresh here - http://bit.ly/2eBNJNQ
Review
Lovely color. I tend to add it just to experience it again while painting. Beautiful watermarks, it makes me feel warm and cozy. Seems like watercolor Naples Yellow by Daniel Smith invented to paint yellow Labrador dog. Look at my Labrador dog commission painted with this tube - http://bit.ly/2es3R5t
Review
Gorgeous color, no wonder it's always out of stock!
Review
I think I was a bit hasty in my judgement when I thought this yellow didn't mix good greens. I just painted a plant that has lots of leaves and the green (azo yellow + ultramarine) is very natural looking yet bright enough.
Review
The most exciting color I've ever seen. It has a mind of its own with turning magically blue here and green there. I am in love with it.
Review
Looks nothing like the swatch on the site; I cannot get it to be that dark no matter what, it does not granulate and seems to have glitter in it. I don't like it.
Review
The color looks nothing like the swatch on the site. It is in fact more like a caput mortum.
Review
amazing versatile color just love love love Daniel Smith
Review
stunning color and again just that super Daniel smith specialness
Review
gorgeous earthy sea green excellent quality as I would expect from Daniel Smith
Review
A very good yellow if you want to paint yellow. Strong, bright, clean. But not as good for an all in one yellow to use as yellow + mixing greens and earths. The greens are quite strong and opaque (I used PB 60 & PB 29) and look like they've been mixed using lemon yellow, because azo yellow has very little warmth. Nothing wrong with strong&opaque if you like that but I prefer more transparent. Surprisingly, the earths are quite weak. They do not have any golden glow, and they look rather cool and bland. So the need for a golden yellow arises. I used Schmincke Pure yellow before and have to say I would have been wise to stick with it, it is beautiful on its own, and mixes glowing earths and transparent natural looking greens. Pair it with DS Lemon yellow and you don't need other yellows.
Review
The color is beautiful but very far from swatch... It looks like Malachite Genuine, but even more stronger.
Review
This I saw on another's DVD too and on that it appeared warmer with a deep crimson/grey colour. Having tried it though it was slightly more grey than crimson but the granular quality of the paint didn't disappoint.
Review
I saw this product on another artist's DVD and wanted to try it. It starts off like a chrome green but then partly transforms into an other worldly electric blue if more water is added. Amazing!
Review
Love this colour: as a wash with a beautiful granulation, and also as a warmer addition to cold areas - this pigment will slightly remove the colder pigment (works wet-to-wet only of course). Yes, the pigment is light, but this makes the color so special.
Review
Beautiful vibrant colour's amazing quality
Review
Beautiful vibrant colours amazing quality
Review
Very good especially for foliage, colour splits on drying with a bronze tint in the green beautiful.
Review
I'm a Daniel Smith fan. Love the quality of all the colours purchased so far, and that's quite a few.
Review
Lovely bright colour and as with, previous quinacridones I have used, did not disappoint.
Review
Very smooth watercolour paint.
Review
many opportunities to put this lovely natural looking Green to good use
Review
Very useful for outdoor painting in the countryside and of buildings
Review
Very high pigment content and bright colour.
Review
Great for Mediterranean rooftops
Review
Simply gorgeous colour and great consistency. Looks wonderful on the paper.

Review
I had bought DS. range of granulating paints, and they certainly do that. Compared to W&N paints they are a bit thine, more liquid than pigment, but they(DS) do do the granulating better. This colour also has a very nice separation of the blue and red pigments.
Review
I had bought DS. range of granulating paints, and they certainly do that. Compared to W&N paints they are a bit thine, more liquid than pigment, but they(DS) do do the granulating better. A clean bright blue.

Love it! The colour and the granulation are great.

Beautiful, glowing yellow. My go to yellow.

A strongly pigmented colour which granulates in a pleasing manner. Useful for seascapes to add interest.

Lovely transparent paint, useful for skin or other uses.
Review
My favorite , I hope if they have a bigger tubes ( 30 ml)
Review
My favorite , I hope if they have a bigger tubes ( 30 ml)
Review
Quite a thin colour , not worth the money. Similar to burnt sienna without the strong pigment.
Review
The closest thing to manganese blue of 40 years ago.
Review
Magical stuff; had almost run out!
Review
Great product; purchased as part of phased replacement of other manufacturers' painting materials.
Review
My favorite!
Review
I was expecting a radiant color but find it bland. Honestly I would like to return it.
Review
A lovely colour – exactly what I needed for the flowers of a very delicate blue bearded iris. Was afraid it might be too granulating, but it's perfect.
Review
reallyy love it's colourrss..^^.i really love itt...^v^.

Well worth having

Another great DS colour
Review
Works as described
Review
Very beautiful as well as useful shade, great quality from DS. Makes vivid golds and brilliant yellows; I use it regularly.
Review
It is a bit cloudy. I found Winsor and Newton's Aureolin Yellow much brighter.
Review
One of my favorite shade. It has replaced burnt sienna for me, more vivid and has a certain brilliance to it.
Review
I love it and I am going to order more from that product.
Review
Just amazing
Review
Several delightful hues
Review
Lovely clean light yellow .will use a lot
Review
Great colour, I am fairly new to the Daniel Smith brand but love the uniqueness of some of these colours
Review
Lovely
Review
This yellow is simply beautiful. I heard of it in a FB group and was told I could find it here.
Review
Brilliant granulation
Review
Interesting effects mixing lots of water with this paint
Review
Very strong colour
Review
not used it yet but am looking forward to using it,

Fantastic price and service.

Excellent
Review
What a beautiful orange red. Absolutely stunning colour.
Review
this is a fascinating and endlessly useful colour!
Review
agree with the blurb - natural textures given a new dimension by a layer of this. It has solved a lot of problems for me.
Review
a clean, dark and bright friend - loved by my thinnest brushes.
Review
Great watercolor (as all Daniel Smith ones) but as for me in real life it looks little bit more brighter that I waited from it, but still not like artificial one so I'm satisfied with it.
Review
I use this color almost in all of my works! It works amazing in mixing with other colors and gives them depth and texture.
Review
This awesome color reminds me about insect's shells. It's decorative and natural at the same time. If you are thinking about trying it I recommend you to do this!
Review
Duochromes are really interesting colors to play with! And it's shining is so delicate and beautiful!
Review
An intense, vibrant orange which glows under more transparent glazes. Use sparingly, it is concentrated liquid fire, wonderful.
Review
After lusting after this colour I was really, really disappointed with it. In fact hardly any colour more a granular watery grey blue than the bright blue I expected. Not worth paying the extra almost double price. Most disappointing experience. Would be interesting to try the test card first.
Review
Beautiful and vivid, I love it. A great replacement for plain old burnt sienna.
Review
The Daniel Smith swatches show it as a nice paint with some juicy midtones. In fact it's a bit muted violet with gentle glitter when dried. It feels velvety. If you know what amethyst crystals look like, this shouldn't be surprising. What impressed me is the tonal range I'm able to achieve with it. And the paint controls really nicely.
Review
a wonderful colour to use, especially for Autumn landscapes. And it does sparkle!
Review
Amazing vivid color! It reminds me about flower's pollen. As for me it's the best yellow I've ever seen.
Review
Very convincing gold watercolor. Nice consistency, can be re-wetted easily when it dries, I'm really happy about it!
Review
The effect it creates is amazing and very unpredictable, especially when working wet in wet.
Review
I purchased this one together with Iridescent Goldstone and they both seem amazing (nice consistency, easily re-wettable). The iridescent effect of Electric Blue is better visible on dark surfaces though.
Review
Have to say the most exciting pigment to discover in 22yrs of painting. Great mixer, spectacular granulation effects, seems to \"\"electrify\"\"/intensify some colours when they come into contact with it. Haven't found anything it can't do yet, just wish I had it when I first started painting -- play with it and be amazed.
Review
Very strong pigment, lovely bright colour, can be rewetted very easily. Also great choice if you're low on your budget, hansa yellow is nice for mixing both warm and cold colors. I'm starting to believe the tube is going to last forever...
Review
Wonderful and intense blue, the tube is just loaded with the blue pigment! I'm not used to these tube watercolors yet (I'm working mostly with pans) so I was quite surprised how fast it settles down. The color chart says medium staining but the effect seems quite strong to me. This could work for some nice texture effects. :)
Review
This is a gorgeous mix for background shadow passages, deepening purples in florals and special effects. The granulation is lovely - the viridian and rose pigments peek out in a wash.
Review
This has got to be the most glorious useful green watercolour available. It covers the range from very light but realistic mossy greens through sap greens through deep olive greens all in one tube. The granulation, with specks of browns, is gorgeous. One of the top paints I have ever used.
Review
This is the most beautiful warm yellow I have used. Lovely in washes and mass tone.
Review
Like many of the Primatek colours, you have to get used to how they work. This is a gorgeous granulating red-earth that can be used in place of Indian red. In a wash is can be glowing with dusty rose to crimson warmth but in mass-tone it is very dark. A number of colours in one. I love it.
Review
I love this colour as a single primary red in a very limited palette. It does a great job as a cool red in a split primary palette too, and is lovely to paint with. Very smooth and rewets well in the palette. Makes gorgeous oranges with a yellow and purples with ultramarine.
Review
This is my favourite yellow earth. The granulation is wonderful for beach scenes (with Buff Titanium), rocks and landscapes and I use it in place of yellow ochre or raw sienna for most of my work. Make sure you shake the tube sell though as it can separate in the tube.
Review
I use this colour all the time. It is a fabulous granulating semi-opaque that is perfect for depicting rocks, beach scenes, seashells and so much more. I love it with Goethite - another granulating staple in my palette.
Review
This colour is one of my favourites of any manufacture. It's subtle, and I love the granulation, particularly mixing for darks
Review
the colour shown he is not correct, it is actually grey with no hint of green, but it does granulate very well when mixed with other colours
Review
A joyous paint that heavily flocculates all over the place. Rich, velvety red-brown... Has some real ooomph! while still maintaining transparency.
Review
I see someone else has beaten me to it! Probably a bad batch of lapis overblown with calcite and pyrite. Henceforth this paint is massively overpriced, dull, grey & weak (you'll ruin your brushes trying to get any strength of colour)... Nigh on useless! Prima-tek range seems to be an overpriced flop.
Review
I must say that this colour leans much more to the green side than the sample suggests. Mine also came with a large air bubble (just my luck!). However it is a lovely colour. Easy to lift off and mixes fairly well. But
Review
A wonderful, rich, deep green. Great granulation/flocculation effects. A must have! Maybe slightly more yellow than the picture shows. But achieves an intense dark upon layering.
Review
I have several tubes of Daniel Smith watercolours and absolutely love them, especially the Quinacridones which are beautiful, rich colours. Quinacridone Fuchsia is a single pigment cool red, a little bluer than quin. rose in tints but not as blue as quin. magenta. At full strength it's a strong, deep reddish pink. Washes are lovely and smooth, making it perfect for floral paintings. I can also recommend the quin. gold, it's still made with the rare PO49 pigment and is the most beautiful earth colour. It's great to find a UK supplier of this wonderful range.
Review
Exactly as I thought it would be (not having seen the colour in 'real life').
Review
I am so happy to be able to source Daniel Smith watercolors through Jackson's. They are lovely to work with and give a lovely depth of colours. The transparent colours are really good and allow the paper brightness come through and give the painting a lovely depth and g quality of colour.
Review
Extraordinarily weird and wonderful product... a gorgeous green that splits out a clear turquoise round the margins on damp - paper. Love it!!
Review
A great colour to add some life to landscapes
